What is Hosted PBX?

Hosted PBX also known as Cloud PBX is a business telephone system hosted in “the cloud” or data centre, in Cybertel’s case, the ECN data centre at Toowong in Brisbane, the NextDC data centre in Brisbane CBD and the NextDC data centre in Macquarie Park in Sydney.

PBX stands for private branch exchange. It allows you to transfer calls, ring hunt groups (groups of extensions), set up conference calls or queue incoming calls up, allow call routing via press-key options, and much much more. In a nutshell, the PBX connects trunks (lines) with extensions (either a handset on a desk, or a Smartphone). Cybertel provides Cloud PBX & Hosted PBX Business Phone Systems in Brisbane and greater South East Queensland.

Extensions connect users to the PBX, through VoIP phones, soft phones, WebRTC or through mobile phones. Web Real-Time Communications is a technology which enables Web applications and sites to capture and optionally stream audio and/or video media.

IP phones are simply phones designed for VoIP. There is a vast range of IP-compatible devices in the market today, but we use and recommend Yealink, exclusively. Yealink have a complete range of IP Telephony products, and depending on the requirements, users can choose the phone that best fits their needs.

The term “trunks” originates from the old days when PBX were connected to the outside world through telecom wires, called trunks. With IP Telephony, those trunks are achieved using the SIP protocol, thus called SIP trunks.

When a caller calls a company, the auto attendant takes care of connecting the call to the right destination, via press key options. Eg. For sales press 1 etc.

Mobile phones can be used in parallel with IP phones, ringing both the phone in the office and the mobile phone, depending on the times the user wants it, either always, or only at preset times.

When a user is not available, the mailbox takes a message and delivers it to the user by sending a message waiting notification to the handset and/or by sending an email to the user’s email account.

When something happens, the PBX notifies the user via email. Whether the user missed a call, has a new voicemail message or a technical problem has occurred, the PBX notifies the user via email.

For groups with a lot of callers, the automatic call distribution stacks callers up and sends them to agents when they become available.

In addition to email notifications, the PBX can also send out text messages (SMS). These messages easily grab the attention of the user and work even if the user doesn’t have a smartphone.

For not so busy groups, extensions can form a hunt group that distributes calls in a simple way to one of the extensions.

Calls can be recorded and made available via the web interface. Third party tools can be used to upload recordings to separate recording archives.

When more than two users need to talk, the conference room of the PBX can connect several callers into a audio conference.

Logs on system and domain level help the administrator determine call quality via MOS (Mean Opinion Score). The PBX is able to generate PCAP traces on a per-call bases, even when the calls are encrypted.

Instead of holding a call, users can also park a call until someone picks the call up from another extension.

Paging groups can send live or recorded messages to extensions. This is an efficient way of distributing information quickly.

Never miss a call again by forwarding calls to your mobile and your extension simultaneously, or sequentially until answered.

Map a commonly dialled number to a virtual extension, allowing you to call external numbers just as if they were an extension on the PBX.

Create individual offices each with their own call routes, operating hours and caller ID etc., all on a single PBX making interaction between multiple sites seamless and cost effective.

What sets Cybertel’s Cloud PBX apart from the others?

Cybertel’s PBX is billed based on the number of concurrent calls, or lines required, just like an old fashioned phone system. All of the features are included standard. Most other hosted PBXs are license based, based on the number of extensions and features required. The more features and extensions, the higher the monthly cost. Cybertel’s plans are clear and simple and easy to understand, we even offer a fixed cost unlimited calls option. The premier hosted PBX Brisbane.

Cybertel’s MyCloud PBX interface.

The clean minimalist interface is easy to navigate. There is an icon for each functionality laid out in the logical order of performing various tasks. Each function is one click deep, so you don’t have to dig through layers to get to the function. Super easy to perform any function, or we will do it for you.

The system has every feature imaginable, plus some. Add lines as your business grows, instantly, without any line connection fees. Add user extensions and customise features as staff come and go. Route calls anywhere, to remote offices, to mobiles, or to messaging services, or we will do it for you.

Extensive reporting feature allows you to quickly and easily generate reports based on whatever criteria you request. Reports are beautifully presented in real-time on the page, or can be exported to CSV, or we will do it for you.

Cybertel’s MyCloud Hosted PBX includes the ability to automatically record all incoming and outgoing calls, or on demand just record specific calls. Most other PBX vendors charge for this feature, Cybertel provides it at no additional charge to you. Recordings are easily managed and download via the interface, or we will do it for you.
